I recently bought a wireless adapter for my desktop, specifically, this adapter: After I installed the drivers for it, I saw that a program named Ralink had apparently been installed, which I never noticed mentioned in the installation. The program doesn't seem to do anything beyond connecting to a network and displaying the connection strength, so it seems effectively superfluous when Windows already does the same. I then checked its CPU usage in task manager, and it was quite high, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether Ralink is necessary, or if I can uninstall it. Normally with something like this, I would uninstall it and see what happens, but I do not currently have an ethernet connection available, so if I uninstalled it and my adapter couldn't work without it, I would be left stuck without internet.
