I have already a 120 GB Samsung mSATA SSD (MZ-M5E120BW). Some time ago I've planned to use with this Apple blade SSD port Adapter/Converter for 2.5' SATA SSD installed into the case of a iMac (21.5 'or 27').
Aliexpress is the best place to get these type of things. Backstory: The Motherboard and SSD was damaged, i don't know how but apple care tells me it's 'Liquid Damage ' But i didn't spill anything. They were demanding about INR 80k ($1200) for replacing both the motherboard and SSD. I didn't do that and kept it at home. I knew this model had mSATA SSD which is one of the cheapest small SSDs around and they only had a different style connection. So i searched on Aliexpress for conversion adapters and to my surprise there were tons of it for most of the macbook models. I got the one for my model A1398 and bought an Samsung 850 EVO 250GB mSATA SSD praying that it would work and it worked.
The funny thing is this SSD is actually faster than the one originally shipped with the macbook 👍.
